Each month, a team of APFA Contract and Scheduling Reps review the PBS Misaward Challenges that are submitted to the Union. We escalate many of those to the Company for further review and discussion.
Since the beginning of May, APFA and American Airlines management have been engaged in extensive mediation to reach an agreement. In this negotiations update, we will provide more information on the bargaining status and the steps moving forward to reach an agreement.

As we previously reported, on Friday, in a very rare move and with one day’s notice, the National Mediation Board (NMB) ordered APFA and AA management to Washington, D.C., for further negotiations to attempt to reach an agreement.

Negotiations between the APFA and AA went late into the evening yesterday at the offices of the National Mediation Board. Talks are ongoing as we continue the fight for the contract we deserve.
The First Quarter 2024 APFA Executive Committee Meeting was held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. In accordance with the APFA Policy Manual, the official minutes are now available on APFA.org.
This morning, National Mediation Board (NMB) Board Members requested leaders from the APFA and AA Negotiating Committees return to Washington, D.C., for a meeting tomorrow (Saturday, June 29, 2024).

EULESS, TX– (June 20, 2024) – Today, contract talks between the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) and American Airlines ended without an agreement, moving 28,000 Flight Attendants one step closer to a strike.
Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to any day in a bid month when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS will award as many Flight Attendants as possible to be off on a particular day.

This week, we continued our struggle for our contract at the National Mediation Board (NMB) offices in Washington, D.C. At the beginning of our mediation session, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su joined our talks with all three NMB members.

As communicated last week, the National Mediation Board signaled that they would call APFA and American Airlines back to the table for a last-ditch effort in the next two weeks to try and come to a deal.
At APFA’s request, the company has agreed to extend the deadline for Flight Attendants to complete the 2nd Quarter Inflight Web Based Training. The deadline to complete the WBT is now Monday, June 10th, at 2359 CT.

Once again, American Airlines management has failed Flight Attendants. The ongoing IROPs caused by severe weather events shows that management is incapable of supporting our work group.
