8.21.25 – Contract Implementation Update #35: Running Reserve Report (CBA 12.Q. 1-7) Implemented

CBA 12.Q.1 through 7 has been implemented as of the evening of August 20th, 2025. This new report is called the Running Reserve Report and is a live report that pulls real-time data.

8.20.25 – APFA Endorses the Safe Air on Airplanes Act; Joins U.S. Rep Frost for Roundtable Discussion

APFA strongly supports the Safe Air on Airplanes Act, reintroduced this week by Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL-10), which would phase out the bleed air systems that currently exist on almost all commercial aircraft types.

The Second Quarter 2025 APFA Executive Committee Meeting was held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at APFA Headquarters in Euless, Texas. In accordance with the APFA Policy Manual, the official minutes are now available on APFA.org.

8.18.25 – Coverage Needed (CN) Dates – September 2025

Coverage Needed (CN) is a term applied to any day in a bid month when not enough Flight Attendants bid in PBS to fly on that day. PBS will award as many Flight Attendants as possible to be off on a particular day.

8.15.25 – Update: Sit Rig Time & Pay Presidential Grievance/Sit Rig Overpayment CBA Section 11.D.6

American Airlines is violating the newly negotiated Sit Rig pay provisions in CBA 11.D.6. In July, APFA filed a Presidential Grievance calling on the company to abandon their blatant disregard for this hard-fought provision.

8.14.25 – CQ Module Presidential Grievance Filed: CBA Section 29.G

American Airlines is violating the contract by underestimating the time it takes to complete this year’s CQ WBTs. The company is refusing to compensate Flight Attendants for the actual time the modules require.

8.14.25 – Contract Implementation Update #34: New! Standby Forecast Report

A new report titled Standby Forecast was added to Crew Portal > Reserves on the evening of August 13th, 2025. This report is the implementation of CBA 12.Q.8, which will be implemented early

8.13.25 – Hot Cabin Report Form and National Academies Study on Aircraft Cabin Temperature

As Flight Attendants, we are responsible for keeping our passengers—and ourselves—safe. During the summer, aircraft systems like the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) may be overworked, and as a result, inoperative throughout summer flying.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, American Airlines Flight 3023 experienced a landing gear fire during takeoff from Denver International Airport, prompting an aborted takeoff and emergency evacuation on the runway.

The Electronic Communication System (ECS) was updated to version 2.4 on the evening of July 22, 2025. This update introduces a new feature that allows you to contact Hotel/Limo directly through ECS for accommodation and transportation needs.

Over the last few days, American Airlines has experienced significant irregular operations that have left many Flight Attendants stranded with no contact from the company. Some were stranded overnight without hotel accommodations

7.15.25 – Contract Implementation Update #31: Specific Standby Bidding

As of July 15th, 2025, ROTA and ROTD have been enhanced to allow specific bidding for Standby. This will allow greater visibility and success when bidding for Standby. When accessing Crew Portal > Reserves > ROTA/D Bidding, you may now use the Bid Item Specific Standby.

7.10.25 – Update on Sit Rig Pay Dispute for Reserve Flight Attendants

One of the hard-fought provisions we secured in our new contract is sit rig pay. As stated in this May 13th CIC hotline, Management is disputing how this pay is calculated for reserve Flight Attendants on a reserve day who don’t reach the 75-hour monthly reserve guarantee.

In 1938, legislation was established to designate November 11th as a legal holiday to honor our veterans. Initially called Armistice Day, this day was dedicated to promoting world peace and recognizing the sacrifices of World War I veterans.

Yesterday, DOT Secretary Duffy ordered a reduction in flight capacity at 40 major airports beginning tomorrow, with further cuts expected in the coming days if the government shutdown continues.
